Fast Downloader for Instagram is a browser extension that saves photos, videos, reels and stories from instagram.com to the user's device. This policy explains what data the extension handles and why.

Summary

The extension does not collect, sell or send any personal data to the developer or to any third party. It has no servers, no analytics and no tracking. Everything happens locally in the browser.

Data the extension handles

• Website content. On instagram.com pages the extension reads the images, videos and post links shown on the page, so it can find the media files to save.
• Instagram session. To list posts of a profile or the stories of an account, the extension sends requests to instagram.com from the open Instagram tab. The browser attaches the existing Instagram login cookies to these requests, and the extension reads the anti-forgery (CSRF) token that Instagram requires. The extension never sees or stores the password, and these tokens are used only for requests to Instagram itself.
• Settings and recent downloads. The selected language, save method, subfolder name and the chosen save folder are kept in the browser's local storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). The list of the last four downloads (file names and thumbnail addresses) is stored the same way to show the "Recent downloads" tiles.
• Downloads. In the "Browser downloads" mode files are saved with the browser's download manager. The extension looks up its own earlier downloads in the browser's download history to skip files that were already saved and to show a file in its folder.

Network connections

The extension connects only to Instagram (instagram.com) and to Instagram's media servers (cdninstagram.com, fbcdn.net) to download the files the user asked for. No data is sent anywhere else. The "Buy me a coffee" link in the settings opens buymeacoffee.com only when clicked.

Permissions

• downloads: saving files and showing them in their folder.
• Access to instagram.com: adding the download buttons to Instagram pages and reading the media to save.

Data retention and removal

All data stays on the user's device. Removing the extension, or clearing the site data of instagram.com in the browser, deletes the settings and the recent downloads list. Saved files remain on the disk and are under the user's control.

Children

The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly handle any data about them.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page with a new date.
